WHEREAS, the National Association for the Advancement of C%reel People (NAACP) is
the nations oldest recognized grassroots-hased civil rights ()rganization: and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the NAACP is to ensure the politIcal, educational. social, and
economic equality of rights of all perStJns and to eliminate racial hatred and
racial discrimination wherever it exists: and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Branch of the NAACP fS hosting its zEfh Annual Freedom
Fund Banquet on Saturday, October 16, 2010 while also celebrating 101
years of the national NAACP: and,
WHEREAS, the theme of the dinner and awards ceremony will be "One Nation, One
Dream ~ the function being held at the Hilton Naples and Towers and will be
an evening of celebration and hcpeful expectdticns of gef7erou$ giving by
attendees: and,
WHEREAS, the fund raising and dinner is an integral part cf this celebration: and,
WHEREAS, the speaker for the event will be Rev. Frank Peterman, Jr., Secretary of the
Florida Department cf Juvenile Justice and former FlorIda State
Representative of District 55: anci
WHEREAS, the proceeds of this event will be used to further the endeavors of the
Collier County Branch of the NAACP as it follows the principal objectfvl!s of
the NAACP constitution.
NOW THEREFOR€. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that October 16, 2010, be designated as
COLLIER COUNTY BRANCH NAACP 28m
ANNUAL FREEDOM FUND DAY
