Appointment of member to Collier County Citizens Corps
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 1 member to serve the remainder of a term expiring on November
11, 2013, to the Collier County Citizens Corps.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Citizens Corps is an 11 member committee that
was established on November 5, 2002 by Ordinance No. 02 -56 to provide information to the
citizens of Collier County and to act as a coordinating agency for the enhancement of activities
that support emergency services, law enforcement and disaster prevention, preparedness and
response. The committee will assist in the recruitment of volunteers by publicizing and
expanding existing community programs such as: Medical Reserve, Neighborhood Watch,
Community Emergency Response Teams, Volunteers in Police Service & other public safety and
law enforcement programs. They will also facilitate communication between Collier County &
State & Federal agencies on mitigation activities as well as to enable Collier County to identify
outside resources such as grants, training opportunities and equipment. A list of the current
membership is included in the backup.
Mr. Gerald Sugarman resigned from the board as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
member.
A letter was received from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program advising that the RSVP
Organization is recommending the appointment of:
• Mrs. Margaret M. Lauzon
ATTENDANCE: N/A
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: By Ordinance No. 02 -56, these appointments are
recommended from specific agencies /organizations.
FISCAL IMPACT: NONE
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commnissioners considers the
recommendation for appointment, appoint I member, and direct the County Attorney to prepare
a resolution confinning the appointments.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program has a seat on the Collier County Citizen Corps Advisory
Committee which is vacant at this time. I am recommending an excellent candidate to fill the RSVP seat,
Mrs. Margaret M. Lauzon, who has probably submitted her electronic application by this time.
Peggy is a long -time RSVP volunteer who has some familiarity with Community Emergency Response Team
activities, and currently helps administer the North Naples Fire District Seniors Helping Seniors Program,
coordinating the reporting of RSVP volunteer hours.
Thanks for your help with the process, Ian. Please let me know if I can be helpful in moving the application
forward.
