Appointment of member(s) to Collier County Consumer Advisory Board (CAB)
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 1 member to fill a vacant tern to expire on December 1, 2011 to the
Collier County Consumer Advisory Board (CAB)
CONSIDERATIONS: The Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) was created on May 26, 2009,
by Ordinance No. 2009 -27. This 5 member board was created for the purpose of hearing any
appeals from adverse administrative decisions regarding a public vehicle license permit. They
will also hear all public consumer issues. No member of the CAB shall be a current motor
vehicle for hire owner or operator, nor shall they be a family member of the same household of a
current motor vehicle for hire owner or operator. Adverse decisions of the CAB may be
appealed, within thirty (30) days, to the Board of' County Commissioners. The CAB is a quasi -
judicial board, terns will be 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The appointment is to fill a vacant tern expiring on December 1, 2011. A press release was
issued and a resume was received from the following interested citizen:

Staff has completed their review of the submitted application. As a managing
partner /owner of his own company (Kerns International), a former vice president
of PepsiCo, Mr. Kerns customer service background meets the qualifications for
the Collier County Consumer Advisory Board. Staff finds no current or previous
owner interest in the vehicle for hire industry and no additional applications for
this position have been received by my office.
