Agenda 07/27/2010 Item # 5BAgenda Item fro. 513 July 27, 2010 Page 1 of 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to recognize James Foster, Senior Field Inspector, Public Utilities Planning and Project Management Department, as the Employee of the Month for June 2010. OBJECTIVE: To recognize James Foster, Senior Field Inspector, as the Employee of the Month for June 2010. CONSIDERATIONS: James Foster, Senior Field Inspector, has been nominated as the "Employee of the Month" for June 2010. Jim started his career with Collier County Government as a Utility Technician for the Water Department in 1989. He has worked his way up through the organization and in 2006 he became a Senior Field Inspector for the Public Utilities Planning and Project Management Department. Jim has an excellent work ethic. He works hard every day and always goes the extra mile to do the right thing. He is able to look outside the box to see whether there is a better way to do something, always challenging others to improve processes and the final product. Most recently Jim exceeded expectations while working to support a pipe repair project in the South RO Wellfield. With his work on this project, in addition to his normal responsibilities, Jim had to work many additional hours, including time on nights and weekends. This past summer he also stepped up to fill in for a coworker who was out on an extended leave. During this timeframe he willingly took on the full time duties of another employee, and was able to manage the inspections for over 30 projects. Jim is considered to be the "go -to" person for other inspectors on Public Utilities policies and procedures and guidelines on neighborhood relations. Whenever projects directly interface with the public, he goes out of his way to inform them on what is going on, and relays their concerns to the project team. He persistently pursues resolutions to issues and always acts with fairness, honesty and professionalism. Jim has proven to be a valuable asset to both the Public Utilities Division and Collier County. He is truly deserving of this award.
