EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award RFQ# 10-5482 - Lely MSTU Irrigation Reuse Water Source
Renovation to Hannula Landscape & Irrigation, Inc., in the amount of $59,992.20
OBJECTIVE: Recommend that the Board award RFQ# 10-5482 - Lely MSTU Irrigation Reuse
Water Source Renovation to Hannula Landscape & Irrigation, Inc.
CONSIDERATIONS:
· On March 23, 2010, Purchasing Department sent out 974 notices for Bid #10-5445,
Quail Run Lake Shoreline Restoration & Stabilization. There were 58 contractors who
viewed the solicitation on e-proeurement.
· On April 6, 2010, bids were opened and three (3) bids were received. Project was
estimated to be $45,752.50 and lowest quote of $59,992.20 (by Hannula Landscape &
Irrigation, Inc.) required that staff obtain Board of County Commissioner approval for the
award as it exceeds $50,000 threshold.
· On April 15, 2010, the Lely MSTU Committee reviewed bid tabulations and made
motion to award RFQ# 10-5482 - Lely MSTU Irrigation Reuse Water Source Renovation
to Hannula Landscape & Irrigation, Inc., in the amount of $59,992.20
Review of Bid in terms of Original Cost Estimate: Hannula Landscape Bid at
$59,992.20 (apparent low) is 24.5% higher than $48,152.50 Cost Estimate by MeGee &
Associates. Staff has conferred with McGec & Associates and Contractor regarding this
variance and found that there may be oppOltunity for 'value engineering' the project with
minor changes in project specifications.

LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office and is legally sufficient for Board aetion-SRT.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMP ACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board award RFQ# ]0-5482 - Lely MSTU Irrigation
Reuse Water Source Renovation to Hannula Landscape & Irrigation, Inc., and authorize the
Chairman to execute the standard contract after review by the County Attorney's Office.
