EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize an insurance refund and approve the necessary
budget amendment for the Ochopee Fire Control District in the amount of
$4600.00 for the purpose of replacing stolen items.
OBJECTIVE: To approve a budget amendment in the amount of $4600.00 for
the purpose of replacing stolen items.
CONSIDERATIONS: On September 18,2009, the Ochopee Fire Station located
at 40808 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, FI. 34141 was broken into. Several
items were stolen such as hand tools, a lawn mower, a generator, and a new
pump that was to be installed on one of the Forestry Vehicles used to fight brush
fires. The pump had been purchased through a Forestry Grant, therefore only
half of the expense was covered and consequently the Ochopee Fire Control
District will be responsible for the full amount of that replacement. These items
must be replaced for the purpose of maintaining Department property.
Recognizing these funds will assist in lessening the burden of replacement.

FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is needed to recognize $4600.00 from
insurance refunds that will be used to purchase replacement equiprnent for
property that was stolen on September 18, 2009. These funds will be placed in
the Ochopee Fire Control District Fund (146).
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County
Attorney's Office and it does not present a legal issue SRT.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners recognizes
the insurance refund and approves the necessary budget amendment.
