Appointment of member(s) to Collier County Code Enforcement Board
OBJECTIVE: To appoint I alternate member to serve a 3 year term expiring on February 14,
2013 to the Collier County Code Enforcement Board.
CONSIDERA TIONS: The Collier County Code Enforcement Board has I term expiring on
February 14, 2010. This 7 member board, plus 2 alternate members, is composed of, but not
limited to, individuals representing the occupations of architect, businessman, engineer, general
contractor, subcontractor and Realtor and are considered, in part, on the basis of experience or
interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a
Form I Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The term for Herminio Ortega (alternate) will expire on February 14,2010. A press release was
issued and resumes were received from the following 2 interested citizens;

I am in receipt of your memo dated January 22nd, 2010 in which you requested review
of application submitted by a citizen interested in serving on the Code Enforcement
Board. The resume for the applicant listed below was reviewed and meet the Code
Enforcement Board qualifications stated in Ordinance 2001-55, Section Five:

Please be advised that there is currently 1 vacancy for an alternate on the committee. In
accordance with Ordinance 2007-44, Article II, Section 2, the Code Enforcement Board
shall be comprised of seven members and two alternate members. Of the applicants
received, both candidates are local business men who reside in Collier County and meet
the qualification requirements.
Mr. Ortega has been serving on the Code Enforcement Board and has had one
unexcused absence in September of 2009. All other meetings he was in attendance
since his appointment.

This 7 member board was created pursuant to Chapter 162 of the FL Slat. by Ordinance 88-89
and is composed of, but not limited to, individuals representing the occupations of architect,
businessman, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and Realtor and are considered, in
