Agenda 01/26/2010 Item #16F4Agenda Item No. 16174 January 26, 2010 Page 1 of 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommend approval of the award of RFP #09 -5318 and agreement between Collier County Bureau of Emergency Services and Calvin, Giordano & Associates Inc, for a one -time fee of $53,618. OBJECTIVE: Acquire the services of a contractor to conduct a Temporary Housing Study to support and help develop a methodology for post disaster temporary housing. CONSIDERATIONS: The Bureau of Emergency Services is responsible through a state requirement to develop a temporary housing strategy in preparation for a potential catastrophic event. Funding for this endeavor is available from a previously awarded Department of Homeland Security grant. RFP #09 -5318 was posted on September 21, 2009. Two- hundred and sixty seven notices of the RFP were sent out and six proposals were received by the due date of October 10, 2009. The selection committee chose Calvin, Giordano & Associates Inc, by consensus to conduct the study and present a strategy to address a catastrophic housing loss. FISCAL IMPACT: Funding in the amount of $53,618 is available from the Emergency Management Grant Fund 118. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan related to this action. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney's Office and is legally sufficient —JBW. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the award of RFP # 09 -5318 and the contract with Calvin, Giordano & Associates Inc. and authorize the Chairman to sign the standard contract after County Attorney approval.
