FOR EVEDUTE RELEASE December 7, 2011 The Collier County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. , The Collier County Code Enforcement Board has 4 terms expiring on February 14, 2012. This 7 member board, plus 2. alternate members, is composed of, but not limited to, individuals representing . the occupations of architect, businessman, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and Realtor and are considered, in part, on the basis of experience or interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. The County Government Productivity Committee has 6 vacancies with the terms expiring on February 4, 2012. This committee is composed of 11 members, with the vice chair of the Board of County Commissioners serving in a liaison capacity. The members are appointed by resolution of the Board of County Commissioners for a two -year term and must be permanent residents and electors of Collier County. Committee members are required to possess special expertise and experience related to managing large organizations, and must be balanced in representing the views of the community. The committee reviews the efficiency of departments of County Government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners. The committee may analyze and review existing. structure, organization, staffing, management,. functions, business practices, and procedures of any or all parts of county government and make recommendations for increased efficiency and cost- effectiveness. The committee may also assist in the implementation of those recommendations. The Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee has 1 vacancy for a candidate to serve until October 13, 2014. This 5 member committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of carrying out the requirements, conditions and various provisions of an Agreement relating to the use of land, or funds derived from the sale of land, conveyed to the County by Avatar Properties Inc. (f/k/a GAC Properties Inc.). Applicants must reside within the subdivision known as "Golden Gate Estates." Member selection may depend upon location of residence within specific areas (phases) of the Estates. The Hispanic Affairs Advisory Committee has 2 vacancies for terms to expire June 25, 2015. This 9 member board identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Hispanic Community, reviews and commends ways to ensure open communication between the minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are,4 years. The Land Acquisition Advisory Committee has 2 terms expiring on February 11, 2012. This 9- member committee was created by Ordinance No. 2002 -63 and their primary responsibility is to recommend to the BCC an Active Properties Acquisition List with qualified purchase recommendations of environmentally sensitive lands consistent with the goals of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program. Membership of the committee shall comprise broad and balanced representation including environmental and conservation interests, agricultural and business interests, educational interests, and general civic and citizen interests within the County. Members shall have expertise, knowledge or interest in ecology, conservation of natural resources, real estate or land acquisition, land appraisal, land management, eco- tourism or environmental education. Packet Page -644- 12/13/2011 Item 9.Q. The Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee has 1 vacancy ror a new term that will expire on November 13, 2015. This 5 member committee was established on July 31, 2001 by Ordinance No. 2001 -43 to aid and assist the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU, to prepare and recommend to the BCC an itemized budget for the MSTU and recommend work programs and priorities to the County Manager. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU. Terms will be 4 years.
