EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve a request for an extension of time, not to exceed thirty eight calendar days, and increase In sizing, not to exceed one thousand two hundred square feet, for a fabric banner that will be displayed at the Philharmonic Center, advertising a community event in dedication to Myra Janco Daniels. OBJECTIVE: To have the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approve a requested extension of time for a temporary use permit, not to exceed thirty eight (38) days from December 12, 2011, as well as approve an increase to the banner size, not to exceed one thousand two hundred (1,200) square feet, to be installed along the west side of the Philharmonic building fronting Myra Janco Daniels Boulevard for the "Thank You Myra Days" event to be held on January 14, 2012 through January 15, 2012. CONSIDERATIONS: Ms. Adda Starkey and Mr. David Drobis, Co- Chairmen of the "Thank You Myra Days ", and Philharmonic Center staff contacted Growth Management Division staff, requesting:, 1. A tent day extension to the Temporary Use Sign Permits (PL- 2011001822 and PL- 2011001823) for the Philharmonic Center, located at 5833 Pelican Bay Boulevard, Naples, Florida, not to exceed a total of thirty eight (38) calendar days, beginning on December 12, 2011. 2. Permission to exceed the permitted thirty two (32) square -foot sign, and install a one thousand two hundred (1,200) square -foot sign along the west side of the Philharmonic building fronting Myra Janco Daniels Boulevard. The "Thank You Myra Days' is scheduled to be held on January 14-15, 2012; and will showcase the contributions Ms. Daniels made to benefit Collier County. During the celebration, the Philharmonic campus will be open to the public at no charge. The request submitted is not permissible per the Land Development Code section 5.04,06.B.03.d, `Temporary signs and banners used on nonresidential or mixed use properties shall not exceed 32 square feet in sign area or 8 feet in height ", and section 5.04.05.A.3.a, "The County Manager or designee, may grant nonrenewable temporary use permits of up to 14 days duration, such that during any calendar year the sum total duration of all permits for such events for that location does not, exceed 28 days" and would require approval from the Board. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no anticipated fiscal impact. to the requested variance for time extension and banner size. GROWTH MANAQEMENT IMPACT: This action has no growth management impact. By acceptance of this permit, the applicant agrees to defend, hold harmless and indemnify Collier County and its agents from any and all liability which may arise as a result of the issuance of this permit and agrees to conform with applicable provisions of the Collier County Land Development Code in addition to the conditions and stipulations contained herein. Approval of this Temporary Use Permit does not constitute approval of or guarantee the structural integrity of the item being allowed to exist for the term indicated. This permit does not constitute approvals which may also be necessary under other local, state and federal regulations, including, but not limited to right -of -way permit, building permit, FAA, FCC, fire district, & DEP.
