Recommendation to recognize insurance proceeds received from Johns Eastern Company,
Inc, in the amount of $41$6133 for the replacement of an F -350 truck and related trailer
and approve the necessary budget amendment
OBJECTIVE: To replace an F -350 truck and related trailer with insurance proceeds received
fmm Johns Eastern Company, Inc. in the amount of $41,561.33.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Parks and Recreation Department manages a mobile
mowing team that maintains all the Department's Neighborhood parks and Athletic fields located
onleused Collier County School District sites.
Recently, two members of the mobile mowing team were involved in an accident driving an F-
350 track and trailer that was damaged beyond repair (see incident report). Johns Eoamo
Company, Inc. provided reimbursement for the damaged vehicle with check #4488 in the amount
of $41,561 33.
The proceeds of the reimbursement will allow for the purchase of a new vehicle and trailer.
FISCAL IMPACT: The reimbursement check will cover the cost of replacing this asset. The
check was received and deposited Into the MSTD General Fund I I I on August 29, 2011. With
the fiscal year-end having passed, the proceeds rolled into the carrvforv:aM for MSTD General
Fund I I I for FV 2012. The proposed budget amendment will recognize this increase in carry
forward and appropriate expenditures within the Parks and Recreation Department,
Unincorporated Area General Fund 111.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: Them is no growth management impact associated
with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The County Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved this
item for form and legal sufficiency.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners recognize the insurance
proceeds from Johns Eastern Company, Inc. in order to replace the F -350 track and trailer and
approve the necessary budget amendment.
