Exempt Small Quanlily Cremation (CESQG) about the new Landfill Household.Hezinkis
Waste (KHW) facility and NNW collections to five neighborhood cleanup events by lure 15,
2012. N15 eommunifies have significant immi &ant populations. HHW and CESQG collection
services have not been pertained orprovided during these community cleanup events in the past.
• Herom each neighborhood cleanup, County sniff and commodity volunteers will deliver
HHW educational material to homes in the cleanup areas in addition to the recycling and
curbside collection information currently provided during the door to door canvassing;
provide NEW brochures and other educational materials in 3 languages; and offer and
provide upon request, plastic bags for homeowners' containment and transport of HEW
to the neighborhood cleanup collection site.
Prior to each cleanup event county staff and volunteers will visit the businesses checking
• for compliance and promoting the Cleanup event; educate CESQG businesses in the
cleanup areas about the new HHW facility, which these businesses can use, at the County
Landfill scheduled to open in May 2012; and provide CESQG businesses disposal forms,
brochures and a HEW video.
• We will develop a NEW presentation fm Adult English Language Learners including
brochures, Power Point, ami mmomeducational materials and a HHW video in three
languages. We will offer to make HEW presentations b area Adult English Classes,
Habitat Homeowners, Home Owner Organizations, Churches and usher groups within the

adding HOW and CESQG to Neighborhood Cleanups
Collier County smelly conducts several neighborhood and beach cleanups in partnership with
the County Cade Enforcement, the Sheriffs Department, Fire Department, State Agencies,
neighborhood groups, churches and community organiretions to mitigate code violations and
remove litter and solid waste from their community. Neighborhood cleanup events revive a
waiver of landfill tipping fees up to $4,000.00. Collier County's waste hauling franchisers
eonlraemally provide and haul roll -off containers for miscellaneous junk and construction
material, tires and huge stud yard waste material at no charge for neighborhood clean ups.
County and Sheriff staff, and contrarily groups go door to door before the cleanup day
identifying areas for clean up and helping residents properly prepare items for disposal u the
neighborhood clean ups. The high unemployment level and large number of foreclosures has
n produced large amounts of wanes. Sometime there is confusion about proper disposal for bulky
items and HOW disposal, particularly in immigrant communities. The Golden Gate
Neighborhood cleanup of June 25, 2011 resulted in 14.3 tons of waste. This memo is a fallow
up of an informal proposal for a HHW hmovation giant ward

on Friday July 8, 2011.
We are proposing an Innovative grant application under FDEP (403.7265) to assist in adding
education and outreach to CESQG about the new Landfill HHW facility and HHW collections to
five neighborhood cleanup events by June 15, 2012. All 5 communities base significant
carcinoma populations. NEW and CESQG collection services have not been promoted or
provided during these community cleanup events in the past
• Before each neighborhood cleanup, County gaff and commnn ty volunteers will deliver
HHW educational m steded to homes in the station areas in addition to the recycling and
curbside collection information annually provided dining the door to door canvassing.
We will provide HHW brochures and other educational materials in 3 languages, and
have available plastic bags for homeowners containment and transport of HHW to the
neighborhood cleanup collection site.

for compliance and promoting the Cleanup event. We will educate Conditionally Exempt
Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) businesses in the cleanup more about the new HHW
facility, which these businesses can use, at the County Landfill scheduled to open in May
2012. We will provide CESQG businesses disposal forms, brochures and a HEW video.
