EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO ATTEND
FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE.
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public purpose
for a Commissioner to attend function /event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic associations/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Tom Henning
FUNCTIONIEVENT: 2011 Distinguished Public Service Awards,
Naples, FL
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with local business, non - profit and government
leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION /EVENT: October 12, 2011
FISCAL IMPACT: $20.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Henning to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

Dear Commissioner Henning,
This year, the 2011 Distinguished Public Service Awards ceremony will be held on October 12"' at the
Naples Hilton Hotel at 7:30 a.m. This prestigious award is presented by The Greater Naples Chamber of
Commerce in cooperation with The Naples Daily News.
The award is in its-8"' year and recognizes three areas of the protective services, fire, police and EMS.
One individual is selected from each of the protective service areas and is publicly recognize for their
excellence in protecting us and making Collier County a safer place to live.
The awards ceremony is presented as A Wake -Up Naples breakfast and seating has been limited to 200.
