COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
0WC,TIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Jim Coletta
FUNCTION/EVENT: Attending Campaign for Leadership 2011 event
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: November 4 and 5, 2011
FISCAL UWPACT: $75 — Funds to be paid from Commissioner Coletta's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Jim Coletta to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

Description: Campaign for Leadership is a non . partisan program that Is designed to enlighten, encourage and
educate dozen leaders to more effectively engage In local government by serving an boards and
wmrnisalo s and /or by running successful campaigns for elected office. Participants wild hear from
prominent elected and appointed leaders, campaign consuttents, party officials, the media and policy
experts on how to help our governments Improve the quality of our lives through positive cMc
salon. Eighty to 100 civic and business leaders are expected to partkipate M this one and one half
day program to which the media will be Invited. The program will run 11:30am- 5:45Pm on Friday,
November 4th, and 8:00am- 5:00pm on Saturday, November 5th.
