EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to authorize conveyance of a Grant of Utility Easement to FPL Fibernet, LLC, for the installation of underground fiber optic cable to the existing communications towers at the Golden Gate Public Safety Complex, Veterans Park, and East Naples Park. OBJECTIVE: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes the conveyance of a Grant of Utility Easement to FPL Fibernet, LLC, to provide underground fiber optic cable to existing communications towers located on County -awned property at the Golden Gate Public Safety Complex, Veterans Park, and East Naples Park. CONSIDERATIONS: FPL Fibemet, LLC has requested to install underground fiber optic cable to the communications tower sites at the Golden Gate 'Public Safety Complex, Veterans Park, and East Naples Park to enhance the service in order to upgrade to 5-G cell phone and data service at those sites. The three towers sites are leased by Collier County to communications carriers. The upgrade in service will provide its customers with better service. The installation of this cable is a benefit to - Collier County in that once the fiber optic cable is present on the County's properties, the Parks Department would be able to tie into that cable, at a minimal cost, whenever the County is ready to do so, compared to the cost the County would incur to actually run its own cable on the property. The benefit of the fiber optic will be for patrons of the Parks Department to access 5-G technology. The East Naples Park tower lease has been in effect since 1993, the lease for Veterans Park has been in effect since 2003, and the lease at the Golden Gate Public Safety Complex has been in effect since 2001. ; This request and the Grant of Utility Easements has been reviewed and approved by the Parks & Recreation Department, the Facilities Management Director, and the County Attorney's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact for the County to grant this easement. Adl costs relating to the recording of this easement shall be home by the Grantee. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The proposed Grant of Utility Easement has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office, is legally sufficient, and requires majority vote for approval. JW RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the attached Grant of Utility Easement to FPL Fibernet, LLC; authorizes the Chairman to execute the Easement; and directs the County Manager or his designee to proceed to record the Grant of Utility Easement in the Public Record of Collier County; Florida.
