EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Dayne Atkinson, Project Manager, Public Utilities Planning and
Project Management, as the Employee of the Month for September 2011.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize Dayne Atkinson, Project Manager, as the Employee of the Month
for September 2011:
CONSIDERATIONS: Dayne Atkinson, Project Manager, has been nominated as the "Employee
of the Month" for September 2011. Dayne, an employee of the County for over six years, works
in the Public Utilities Planning and Project Management Department.
As the assigned Project Manager to the Solid Waste Department, Dayne has done an
exceptional job in bringing many capital improvement projects to completion: One of his most
successful achievements was a reclamation project designed to recover and reuse materials at
the landfill in an environmentally sound and cost effective way. This was the largest reclamation
project in the State of Florida and it was completed.ahead of schedule and under budget. It also
earned the Solid Waste Department the Solid Waste Association of North America's Silver
Award. Dayne is currently involved in managing many other projects, including the Resource
Recovery Park and the expansion of the Collier County Landfill. He has the ability to manage;all
aspects of a project from inception to completion, all while maintaining a positive and
professional attitude. He excels at his job by approaching situations in a logical and systematic
way, effectively resolving issues and maintaining a high level of commitment to his customers.
Dayne is an integral and valued team member, and an asset to the Public Utilities Division and
the County. He is truly deserving of this award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award.
Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center:
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of
Dayne Atkinson as "Employee of the Month" for September 2011.
