Recommendation to approve the artist's renderings to be used in the
construction of a bronze bust of former County Manager James V. Mudd donated
by Abbas Asil (landlord of the former Property Appraiser's office building) for
placement in the James V. Mudd Emergency Services Center.
Q§JECTIVE: To approve the artist's renderings to be used in the construction of a bronze bust
of former County Manager .lames V. Mudd donated by Abbas Asli for placement in the James
V. Mudd Emergenc Services Center.
CONSIDERAiT1QNJ On May 10, 2011 (Agenda Item 10.F.), the Board of County
Commissioners- conditionally accepted a proposed bronze bust of former County Manager
James V Mudd for placement in the James V. Mudd Emergency Services Center contingent
upon final design.
The artist's renderings have been attachedfor inspection and approval. The bronze bust will be
approximately 31 inches high and 28 inches wide, weigh about 130 pounds, and sit on, either a
shelf or podium in the lobby of the James V. Mudd Emergency Services Center. The inscription
on the base of the -bust will read "James V. Mudd, County Manager 2002- 2009." The
construction of the sculpture will take approximately 6 to 12 months.
The Mudd family has approved the artist's renderings.
FISCAL IMPACT: Other than a shelf or .stand, no other expenses are anticipated. For
insurance purposes, the total of this rendering is projected to total between $3000 to $5000.
GROWN MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management <impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CgNSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office, is legally sufficient for Board action, and only requires a majority vote for
approval --SRT.
RECQMMODAT10: That the Board of • County Commissioners approves the artist's
renderings of a bronze bust of former County Manager James V. Mudd for placement in the ,
James V Mudd Emergency Services Center.
