EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $100,000 for pool tank repair
at North Collier Regional Park Sun N Fun Lagoon.
OBJECTIVE: To reallocate funding to cover Parks and Recreation pool tank repair at North
Collier Regional Park pool pump building.
CONSIDERATIONS, Currently, the (as built) tanks were constructed per specification with
framed 2 x 4 studs and encapsulated with fiberglass material on the interior and exterior of the
tanks. One of the four tanks, developed cracking along the bottom and sides of the tank. That tank
was removed and a new concrete tank was installed on April 2011.
Parks and Recreation Staff has identified the need to replace the three existing collection tanks in
pump house #1 that have experienced the same failure as the replaced tank mentioned above.
The tanks should be replaced to eliminate any discharge of chlorinated water into the ground.
This procurement is going out for bid. through the Collier County Purchasing Department with
the pre -bid meeting on August 23, 2011, and it will close September 3, 2011.
The recommended purchase will replace three existing collection tanks with concrete collection
tanks. On September 27, 2011 the Parks and Recreation Department will submit an Executive
Summary to the Board for their approval of the lowest qualified pool contractor to repair the
three tanks.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Parks and Recreation Capital Fund (306) budget amendment is needed
moving budget from completed projects and reserves to the North Collier Regional Pool
Equipment Repair and Replacement Project 80100.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: Parks associated with these transfers are inventoried
in the growth management plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office,
requires majority vote, and is legally sufficient for Board action. — CMG
