EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.

FUNCTION/EVENT: Attended CBIA June General Membership Meeting
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTIONIEVENT: June 16, 2011
FISCAL IMPACT: $16 — Funds to be paid from Commissioner Coletta's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Jim Coletta to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

Contributions or gifts to Collier Building Industry Association are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However,
dues payments are deductible by members as an ordinary and necessary business expense, subject to an exclusion for lobbying activities. Because a
portion of your dues is used for lobbying by NAHB, FHBA and CBIA, 15% of the total dues or $81.00 is not deductible for income tax purposes. CBIA
collects contributions from members for Collier Build -PAC to be used for election campaign purposes. Contributions are voluntary and refusal does not
