EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reject Bid 911 -5733 "Irrigation Parts, Pumps and Related Items."
OBJECTIVE: This bid was initiated to obtain irrigation parts and related items on an annual
contract that would aid the Alternative Transportation Modes Department with assessable
replacement irrigation supplies to maintain median landscaping and right of way trees.
CONSIDERATIONS: Bid #11 -5733 "Irrigation Parts, Pumps and Related Items was posted on
June 17. 2011 and seven hundred fifteen (715) notices were sent out and thirty -nine (39) bid
packages were downloaded. On June 27, 2011. four bids were received: one bid for the
miscellaneous irrigation parts, two bids for PVC materials and two bids for pump motors. After
review of the bid results, staff recommends rejecting the bid due to lack of competition on the
irrigation parts line items and inconsistent bid responses on the pump and miscellaneous items.
Staff will restructure and adjust the each section of the bid to attract qualified and responsive
bidders. To protect the vendors pricing strategy and in accordance with Section 1 19.071(3), F.S..
the bid tabulation for this solicitation will not be released until subsequent bid is opened.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office, is legally sufficient for Board action and oniy requires a majority vote for
approval —SRT.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissions -', reject Bid #11 -5733
"Irrigation Parts. Pumps and Related Items ".
