EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve budget amendments for the Museum totaling $83,725.04 to recognize
tourist development tax revenue received as a result of a class action Jaw suit brought against on-
line travel agencies for $62,441.04 and other miscellaneous revenues for $21,284 and appropriate
funds for museum capital improvements.
OBJECTIVE: To approve budget amendments and appropriate additional tourist tax and
miscellaneous revenues to complete exhibit construction and installation at the Naples Depot
Museum and continue the LED lighting upgrade for greater economy and energy efficiency.
CONSIDERA nONS:
1. The Collier County Museum received a check for $62,441.04 on February 16,2011 resulting
from a class action law suit and subsequent Settlement Agreement reached by the Plaintiffs and
various on-line travel agencies. The Tourist Development Council approved this distribution of
proceeds in compliance with the Tourist Development Tax Ordinance No. 92-60, as amended, at
its regularly scheduled meeting on April 25,201]. (Vote 7-2).
2. The Collier County Museum would also like to recognize other revenues to include $6,000.00
from insurance proceeds, $5,984.00 from a private contribution, and $9,300.00 from interest.
3. $ 31,284.00 of the recognized revenue will used to fund the completion of the Naples Air
FieldlProvincetown Boston Airlines exhibit.
4. The additional $20.000.00 will be used to begin upgrading display lighting at the main
Museum, Museum of the Everglades and Naples Depot with energy efficient LED light fixtures,
which protects objects on display and reduces bulb replacement to every six to eight years.
5. The remaining revenue amount $ 32, 441.04 will be placed in fund 198 for reserves.

FISCAL IMPACT: Approving this budget amendment will increase the Museum Operating
Fund (198) by $62,441.04 and will increase the Museum Capital Fund (314) by $51,284.00.
Fund 198 reserves will increase $32,441.04 and Fund 314 reserves will decrease $9,300.00.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no grovv1h management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office,
requires majority vote, and is legally sufficient for Board action. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board approve budget amendments totaling $83,725.04 to
appropriate tourist development tax revenue received as a result of a class action law suit brought
against on-line travel agencies for $62,441.04 and other miscellaneous revenues for $2] ,284.00
and all other budget amendments.
