Agenda 07/10/2018 Item #16E 807/10/2018 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to accept a donation of one Aeroclave Decontamination System purchased for Emergency Medical Services Fund (490) by the Collier Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition in the amount of $10,124. OBJECTIVE: To obtain additional equipment to disinfect ambulances after transporting highly contaminated patients. CONSIDERATIONS: On February 27, 2018 the Board of County Commissioners approved the acceptance of one Aeroclave Decontamination System from the Collier Healthca re Emergency Preparedness Coalition (CHEPC). The mission of the Collier Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition is to promote and enhance the healthcare emergency preparedness and response capabilities of Collier County through collaboration of all coalition members. As parts of this effort, CHEPC approved the funding and purchase of a second Aeroclave decontamination unit in the amount of up to $11,330 for Collier EMS at the CHEPC Executive Member Meeting on May 18, 2018. The use of the Aeroclave technology will ensure that ambulances are thoroughly and consistently sanitized in the aftermath of highly contagious or grossly contaminated calls, thus reducing the likelihood of accidental cross contamination between patient transports. FISCAL IMPACT: The unit will be purchased by CHEPC and provided to Collier EMS as the custodian of the equipment. There is no budgetary impact to the County to accept this item; donated capital asset with a value of $10,124 will be recorded in the financial records of t he Emergency Medical Services Fund (490) by the Clerk of Courts Finance Department. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this action. RECOMMENDATION: To accept an Aeroclave Decontamination unit purchased by the Collier Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition in the amount of $10,124 for use by Collier EMS. Introductions were made over the conference line. Approval of Previous Minutes NA Budget & RFP (Request For Funding) & Project Discussion S. Wiley went over the budget report, existing expenditure commitments, and the remaining funds available for expenditure. $31,330 remains in the account as of 5/7/18. Scott Wiley stated that there are two funding requests from Collier County EMS and one from the Marco Island Fire Department up for review at the meeting. Tony Camps (EMS) and Chief Mike Murphy (Marco Island) presented their respective RFPs to the group. The EMS request was for one additional Aeroclave System @ $11,388. The Marco Island request was for Hazmat items related to chemical detection and protective equipment totaling $20,231. S Wiley suggested that each requesting agency work with their vendor to reduce the price of the device or reduce the amount of equipment ordered so that the total for both RFPs come in under the available budget. Chief Murphy made a motion to approve both RFPs under the assumption the pricing would be reduced to come in under budget. The motion was seconded and approved by the entire group in attendance.
