PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, since 1963 the President of the United States hos proclaimed that we recognize
in May the contribution of small business to the economic well-being of the
United States and the people who foster that objective: and,
WHEREAS, SCORE Naples and the Florida Gulf Coast University-Small Business Development
Center (SBDC) have jointly and synergistically combined their resources to
become the largest mentoring and education activity for small business in SW
Florida and Collier County: and,
WHEREAS, SCORE and the SBDC have also cooperated in many initiatives with other
organizations such as the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, the Collier
Economic Development Council. Project Innovation, the Small Business Association
(SBA) and local lending institutions to promote funding options for small business
such as "got SBA?": and,
WHEREAS, SCORE and the SBDC have conducted and co-sponsored numerous public
educational events attended by thousands of people over the years in topics that
benefit small business, such as social media, strategic marketing, financial and
business planning: and,
WHEREAS, SCORE and the SBDC have developed programs such as" BizQuest" and ''Business
2011" where business roundtables and counseling sessions are held to assist
existing small businesses and enhance communications within the business
community.
NOW THEREFORE. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that we recognize
SCORE and the SBDC during May 16th through May 2Cfh
Notional Small Business Week
