PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, Callier County, with its unique weather and water resources, offers special water-
related recreational activities to its residents, and visitors from ar""nd the world: and,
WHEREAS, Callier County's miles of saltwater tidal coastline, acres of inland lakes and miles of
rivers and streams provide many of the needed environments far recreation and
relaxation: and,
WHEREAS, recreational boating is one of Florida's leading outdoor activities, with many residents
and visitors participating in the pastime distinguishing Florida as one of the "Boating
Capitals of the World": and.
WHEREAS, every year lives are last in boating accidents in spite of the educational efforts of the
U. S. Coast Guard, the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the U. S. Power Squadrons, and the
Florida Marine Patrol, and ather local agencies: and.
WHEREAS, Federal, State, and local agencies, private companies and groups have combined their
efforts to reduce boating accidents by developing and executing safety training programs
such as "Boat Smart - Boat Safe':' and.
WHEREAS, the sponsors of these safety programs have focused their efforts toward the youth and
general public of Callier County, urging them to enhance boating pleasure by avoiding
possible lass of life, while reducing the lass of property: and,
WHEREAS, Callier County urges all citizens and visitors to join in learning and practicing safe
boating by wearing life jackets, taking boating education courses, getting vessel safety
checks, operating their vessels responsibly, safely, and soberly, and obeying Coast
Guard Regulations.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Callier County, Florida,
that May 21 through May 27, 2011, be designated as
SAFE BOA TING WEEK
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10th Day of May, 2011.
