EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize the sale of Collier County surplus property in compliance
with Section 274.06, Fla. Stat. on April 30, 2011.
OBJECTIVE: To sell County surplus property no longer of use to County departments, and
obtain revenue for the County.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Purchasing Department has scheduled the annual County surplus
property auction for April 30, 2011. Please find enclosed Attachment A-Collier County Surplus
Sale Items which includes items that no longer have a useful business purpose. The items on
Attachment A have been offered for transfer to other depaJ1ments prior to the auction.
In an effort to dispose of additional surplus items received by the Purchasing Department prior to
the April 30, 2011 auction, staff is requesting permission to add additional surplus items that
may be received subsequent to the preparation of this Executive Summary at the April auction.
Staff is also requesting approval to accommodate requests for donations received from other
govemment entities or a legitimate Florida Non Profit 501 (C) (3) organization prior to the
auction. All items sold, or donated, and their realized values will be reported to the Board in a
follow-up Executive Summary after the auction event.
Collier County is currently under contract with a full service auctioneer, Atkinson Realty &
Auction, Inc., to provide services to include preparation for the event, sale and disposal of all
Collier County owned property, aJ1d transfer and disposition of all property titles. This sale will
be conducted in compliance with Section 274.06, Florida Statutes.
FISCAL IMPACT: The auctioneer commission and miscellaneous auction expenses aJ'C paid
from the auction sale revenue; nct sales revenucs are returned to the general fund or enterprise
fund that paid for the acquisition of the asset.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office,
requires m<ljority vote, and is legally sut1lcicnt for Board action. - CMG
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDA TION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the sale of Collier
County surplus property on April 30, 20] 1.
