Please be advised that the 80ard will take no action on your petition at this meeting. However, your petition may be placed on a future agenda for consideration at the Board's discretion. If the subject matter is currently under litigation or is an on-going Code Enforcement case, the 80ard will hear the item but will not discuss the item after it has been presented. Therefore, your petition to the Board should be to advise them of your concern and the need for action by the 80ard at a future meeting. Please explain in detail the reason you are requesting to speak (attach additional page if necessary): We are requesting financial support of $25,000 for this fiscal year so that approxjmately 500 low waqe Collier citizens may remain or become emploved through the provision of subsidized child care by the Early Learninq Coalition. The reQuired match for an investment in Collier of $2,500,000 is about $150,000. $75,000 is bejng provided by NCEF, an arm of the Naples Wjnter Wine Festival, and $50,000 is bejnq provided by in-kind funds from projects also supported by NCEF. We also seek to have staff work with representatives of the Early Learninq Coalition to create potential plans for the consideration of multi-year collaborative match support jncorporatjng the $250,000 commitment by NCEF, again so that jn future years the approxjmately 500 Collier low-waqe citizens may remain or become employed throuqh the provision of subsidized child care, therebv avoidjnq their need for other public assistance. Please explain in detail the action you are askinq the Commission to take (attach additional page if necessary): 1. Recommend the issuance of $25,000 in match support for the Early Learning Coalition investment of approximately $2,500,000 in discretionary funding for Collier FY11. 2. Support discussions amonq Coalition, NCEF. and BCC staff to create recommendations regarding multi-year match support for Collier low-wage citizens so that the county may continue to accrue the return on investment of $16.67 for each dollar provided. thereby retaininq approximately 500 in the work force and avoidinq their need for other public assistance.
