EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Recommend approval of the use of Conf"lSC8ted Trust Funds for support of disaster
preparedness, pubHc safety education and other large scale incident support.
OBJECTIVE: To seek appropriation from the Confiscated Trust Fund of $5,000.00 for support of
disaster preparedness, public safety education and other large scale incident support. .
CONSIDERATION: The Collier County Chapter of the American Red Cross by virtue of Section
932.7055 (5) (c) I Florida Statutes is seeking Board authorization for the appropriation of funds for
support of disaster preparedness, public safety education and other large scale incident support. The
American Red Cross has applied to the Sheriff for appropriation. The CCSO requests Board approval to
appropriate $5,000.00 to support the American Red Cross in Collier County.
Some of the purposes of the Red Cross are:
a. Provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to
emergencies.
b. Provide training for First Aid/CPR, use of an AED, and Lifeguarding.
c. Provide emergency communications between active military personnel and their families back
home, access to financial assistance in partnership with the military aid societies.
The CCSO requests $5,000.00 from the Confiscated Trust Fund to be used to support their purposes.
This support will benefit Collier County's community public safety mission.
FISCAL IMPACf: A budget amendment is needed to appropriate a remittance for the American Red
Cross of $5,000.00 and to reduce the Confiscated Trust Fund Reserve for Contingencies.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: No recurring costs for subsequent years.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the budget amendment for
the use of funds for sup rt of . aster p paredness, public safety education and other large scale
incident support.

Dear Sheriff Rambosk,
On behalf of the Collier County Chapter of the American Red Cross I would like to request a
donation of $5,000 from the Sheriffs Confiscated Trust Fund monies to support our local Red
Cross operations.
As you know, the Collier County Red Cross Chapter is an important interagency partner in the
community public safety mission. This funding, if approved, will allow us to continue our
support of; disaster preparedness, public safety education, hurricane and wildfire shelter
operations, first responder care & feeding and other large scale incident support.
The Red Cross also provides emergency and disaster relief in the course of its day-to-day
activities to the community at-large; including victims of house fires and floods, members of the
active and reserve components of the Armed Forces and other residents in need.
The Collier County Chapter of the American Red Cross is a SOI(C) (3) Organization, Certificate
Number 8S-8012526123C-S.
