Chairman Fred Keyes said the ~ommittee was bringing their site report to tho Board for consideration and that it repre.ent. 1,000 .,.n hours ,in development. He introduced Rich Henderlong, formerly with planning Department who worked on the report. Mr. tlAnderlong oxplained the report consists of sites for a County park for tho unincorpornted areas of Collier County which wore selected through use of survey reports with criteria which woro rated on a point basis. Ho presented a slido presentation which listed four sitos for tho ImmokalQo, North Naples, Golden Gate and East Naples areas. He listed the various criteria usod giving examples of the quostions on the survey. Commi9sioner Drown statod he was behind the Committee in their scarch for a ~~rk and said he knew parks wcre needed. *****Commisaioner Drown left the room at 1:50 P.M.····· Mr. Hðdley Jenkins of Avatar corrected one Immokalee site as Sunshine East instead of Sunshino West as stated on the report. Fo]lowing the slide presentation, Mr. Henderlong said tho Committee was asking the Board to accept the recommondation of the site liat~d as number one with tho second, third and fourth site to be held in caso complications ruled out the number one site. He said the Committee would also like the Board to authori~e the necessary funds to have the sites appraisod. He said in the survey the people were asked what method thoy would like to aoe utilized for funding and tourist tax, bond and referondum were atated. County Manager Norman suggested that before a public hearing, that formulation of exactly what would be devoloped in the park ahould be page 2 ).....'...ú:\...~..,;. Mr. Rice distributed a aheet with :cost ostimate for a 30 acre Community Park to all the Commissioners. The total cost for four parks was $7,327,384 and for five parks would be $9,159,230. .*...Commlssioner Kruse left the room at 2145 P.M.···*· Commissioner Wimer asked if uscr feas had been considered and Mr. Rice answered affirmatively. Mr. Keyos said it was imperative to obtain land first. Mr. Rico noted in some areas there was the possibility of having the land donated. Planner Terry Clark briefly reported on the survey which was distributed March 9 and 10, 1981 to 1500 randomly selected people with a 44' return. lie covered tho various questions on the survey. .*.**Commissioner Kruse roturned to the room at 2s49 P.M.······ Commissioner Wimer moved, seconded by Commissioner Wenzel and carried 4/0, with Commissioner Brown absent, that tho Board accept the Parks and Recreation Ad Hoc Committeo report and adopt its recommendations. There was a short discl1ss1(¡n regarding having a public hoaring for input to the parks selection sites and placing the matter on the ballot in the Septe~ber primary. Commissioner wimer stated he felt the parks sites should be do.ignated as park sites in the Comprehensive Plan. Following a discussion, Commissioner Wimer moved that the planning Department be instructed to designate the number 1 site in the Par~s and Recreation Ad Hoc Committoe Report 8S park aiua on the Comprehenaive Plan. Commissioner Piator seconded tho motion which carried 4/0, with Commissioner Brown absent. ., . . BOOK 064 PAGE 110 September 22, 1981 DISaJßION RE NEED FOR AIR CONDITIONING UNITS PLACED ON THE 5TH FLOOR OF BUILDING "F" FOR T^X COLLECTOR ^ND rROPERTY APPRAISER'S NEWLY ACQUIRED EQUIPMENT Proporty Appraiaer Colding stated he understood there was some· confusion in tho morning Boald meoting regarding the request to place a 10 ton air conditioning unit on the 5th floor of Building wFw to sorvice the equipment authorized to be placed there for his depnrtment and the Tax Collector. Commissionor Kruse notod she had nothing in writing regarding the request and asked who would pay for the installation. Mr. Colding said \ ho and tho Tax Collector had budgeted for the expense. County Manager Norman s~ggAsted that Watson and Company be asked to write specifications needed for such an installation. Chairman pistor agreed that was a good suggostion. After a short discussion, Commissionor Wimer moved, seconded by Com~issioner pistor and carriod 2/1, with Commissioners Brown and Wenzel absent, th~t the air conditioning units be placed on the 5th floor as requested. The meeting was adjourned at 3z10 P.M.
