EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept an awarded Volunteer Fire Assistance Matching (SO/50)
Grant from the Florida Division of Forestry for the purchase of required wildfire
protective clothing and firefighting foam, and authorize the necessary budget
amendments.
OBJECTIVE: To accept the award of a Volunteer Fire AssIstance Matching (50/50)
Grant from the Florida Division of Forestry to fund the purchase of required wildfire
protective clothing and firefighting foam and authorize the necessary budget amendments,
CONSIDERATIONS: The Isles of Capri Fire Rescue District has received this Volunteer
Fire Assistance Grant from the Division of Forestry in past years, including $2,721
awarded in 2009 and $2,392 awarded in 2008. The grant will be used to purchase NFP A
approved protective clothing and firefighting foam to improve firefighter safety and
fuefighting capabilities.
FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost of the equipment requested this year is $9,360. As this
is a 50/50 matching grant, the Division of Forestry will pay $4,680 leaving the Isles of
Capri Fire Rescue District to provide $4,680 from the contingencies line of Fund 144 (Isles
of Capri Fire Rescue). The attached budget amendments are necessary to recognize $4,680
of grant funds in Fund 713, Bureau of Emergency Services Grants and to transfer matching
funds of $4,680 to Fund 714, Bureau of Emergency Services Match.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact
resulting from this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's
Office, requires simple majority vote, and is legally sufficient for Board action. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: To accept an awarded Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant from the
Florida Division of Forestry to fund the purchase of required wildfire protective clothing
and firefighting foam and to authorize the related budget amendments.
