Agenda 01/11/2011 Item # 5B Agenda Item No. 58 January 11, 2011 Page 1 of 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to recognize Samantha Moran, Training Coordinator, Human Resources Department, as the Employee of the Year for 2010. OBJECTIVE: To recognize Samantha Moran, Training Coordinator, as the Employee of the Year for 2010. CONSIDERATIONS: Samantha Moran, Training Coordinator, has been nominated as the "Employee of the Year" for 2010. Sam was selected by committee from the list of all the Employee of the Month winners from throughout the year. She was the County's Employee of the Month for March 2010. Sam, an employee of the County for over five years, works in the Human Resources Department as the Training Coordinator. Sam consistently goes above and beyond to make each employee's training experience positive. She strives to offer new and varied training classes to enhance our employees' skills and knowledge. One of the courses that Sam leads several times throughout the year is the ICMA SupeNisory Training Course. Through this ten- week course, she has successfully mentored over 100 employees on all aspects of supeNision. Sam tries to engage each participant in the learning material and reinforce each lesson with practical examples. She leads her classes with confidence and enthusiasm and inspires participants to incorporate the lessons into their own workplace. Feedback from her participants is overwhelmingly positive and she continues to be the go-to person for them and many others. She is always available to offer advice, creative solutions and innovative ideas to reduce training costs. Sam has also taken on many projects and additional tasks. She administers the Go Sign Me Up training registration system, provides continuous support to the Wellness Program and helps out with special events like the Annual Employee Savings and Health Expo. She is an active member of the Step Up Committee where she has successfully contributed to numerous projects during the year. She worked on new guidelines for departments to follow in order to reduce the number of checks returned for insufficient funds and she seNes as the Team Leader of the Outreach Committee to help raise awareness about the committee and the projects they work on. Sam is highly regarded and respected as a leader and a Human Resources professional. The County is fortunate to have such a dedicated employee. She is truly deseNing of this award. FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Year" receives a $250.00 cash award. Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this Executive Summary. RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Samantha Moran as the "Employee of the Year" for 2010.
