EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize the Parks and Recreation Department Director to provide a tour of
park facilities for any interested citizen with the purpose of enhancing the public's knowledge of
current park amenities available to the community.
OBJECTIVE: To provide tours of park facilities in order to enhance the public's knowledge of the
current park amenities offered to the community.
CONSIDERATIONS: During the Communications section of the November 13, 2012 Board meeting, a
Commissioner raised the question of the possibility of transporting private citizens to various County
parks. The intent is to offer to the public on a one time basis a guided tour of various county park sites.
The tour would be open to any interested citizen wishing to familiarize themselves with the different park
programs and amenities. The event will be publicized by the Commissioner and the Parks and Recreation
Department.
At the Board's direction, the logistics were discussed with both the County Attorney and the Risk
Management Director. They have both determined that there are no unusual liability issues that would
prevent Parks and Recreation Department staff from transporting citizens throughout park facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT: There are minimal expenses associated with this summary related to transportation
and staff time; however, the action is viewed as meeting a public purpose.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is legally
sufficient, and requires, majority vote for approval. -JAK
