EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Nancy Frye, Technician, Traffic Engineering
Department, as the Employee of the Month for August 2012.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the Employee of the Month program is to recognize the efforts
and accomplishments of employees who have made significant contributions to the organization
or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Nancy Frye, Technician, has been nominated as the "Employee of the
Month" for August 2012. Nancy, an employee of the County for over 27 years, works for the
Traffic Operations section of the Transportation Engineering Department.
As a Technician, Nancy is responsible for a variety of assignments that include designing and
fabricating signs, assisting with engineering projects and preparing crash data reports. In
addition to these responsibilities she is also a member of the Community Traffic Safety Team,
where she serves as their Secretary and Event Coordinator. This organization is committed to
solving traffic safety problems in our community and Nancy volunteers many hours of her own
time with this group. For the past five years she has worked on the Walk to School Program.
This program, in coordination with the schools, fire departments, law enforcement and citizen
volunteers, stuffs and distributes over 6,000 backpacks to our County's elementary school
students. These backpacks are full of safety related materials so that students can learn how to
walk and ride their bikes safely to school.
Nancy's dedication to safety in Collier County makes her an asset to the community. She is truly
deserving of this award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award.
Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of
Nancy Frye as "Employee of the Month"for August 2012.
