Agenda 09/11/2012 Item # 4CWHEREAS, the /Maples Community Hospital Healthcare System has been serving Coffier County
since 1953 by promoting, maintaining and restoring health to the residents and
visitors of the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayo Clinic, established more than 150 years ago, has long been known as one
of the most trusted names in healthcare; and,
WHEREAS, the NCH Healthcare System was invited to enter into a clinically significant
collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Care Network after a rigorous review process,
becoming the first facility in Florida aF7d the Southeast United States to do so;
and,
WHEREAS, the presence of a patient- centered cutture, compassionate, competent and caring
colleagues, and high ethical standards make this affiliation a natural fit for both
institutions, and,
WHEREAS, the NCH Healthcare System will be enhanced by its access to the knowledge and
expertise of Mayo Clinic physicians and disease management protocols as well as
unique access to advice on patient care plans and opportunities with electronic
connectivity and web -based experts for expanded medical education and sharing
of best practices; and,
WHEREAS, this collaboration highlights the outstanding quality of the NCH Healthcare System
and speaks to the many benefits and Improvements tc the quality of fife of the
residents and visitors of Collier County,
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that NCH Healthcare System is recognized for its collaboration with
Mayo Clinic Care Network,
