EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the attached T-hangar Lease Agreement between the Collier County
Airport Authority and the Civil Air Patrol
OBJECTIVE: To provide storage for Civil Air Patrol (CAP) aircraft at the Marco Island Executive
Airport (MKY) until the CAP hangar that was destroyed by Hurricane Irma is repaired.
CONSIDERATIONS: The hangar owned by CAP located at MKY was destroyed by Hurricane Irma.
Until the repairs of the hangar facility are completed, CAP wishes to lease an avail able hangar
owned/operated by the Airport Authority at MKY, which will allow CAP to continue providing vital
public services to the local community.
The standard T-hangar lease agreement previously approved by the Board (February 11, 2014, Agenda
Item 16G1 was used with the exception of the indemnification language. Because CAP is a
Congressionally chartered non-profit federal corporation and the official Auxiliary of the Unites States
Air Force, the standard T-hangar lease agreement was changed to recognize that the CAP is a tax exempt
federal corporation, and to reflect liability and indemnification limits to the extent permitted by federal
law.
The term of the agreement is month-to-month. During the term of the agreement, CAP will pay monthly
rent in accordance with the uniform rate schedule in effect and published by the Airport Authority, as
previously reduced for minor hurricane damage (December 12, 2017, Agenda Item 16G3).
FISCAL IMPACT: The monthly rent will be deposited in the Airport Authority Operating Fund (495),
Marco Island Executive Airport Cost Center (192370).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote
for Board approval. --JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached t-hangar lease
agreement between the Collier County Airport Authority and the Civil Air Patrol.
