P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Collier County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and its
paramedics care for victims of sudden life-threatening injuries
and illnesses, often under stressful conditions and in high-risk
situations, to save the lives of others; and,
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics must rapidly assess, manage and effectively
provide care in unpredictable situations that may require putting
themselves in danger; and,
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics are often the first contact many residents and
visitors have with the health care system, benefiting them from
the paramedics’ efforts; and,
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics provide education, assessment, prevention and
referral services in addition to their emergency activities; and,
WHEREAS, it is critical that the public be made aware of, understand,
support and successfully use its local emergency medical services
system; and,
WHEREAS, recognition is due to all emergency medical professionals serving
in a variety of roles for their unselfish dedication to Florida’s
residents and visitors.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that May 20 through May 26, 2018, be
designated as
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 22nd Day of May 2018.
