EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment of $615,000 to move funds from Project No.
70087, Vanderbilt Drive Water Main Rehabilitation, to Project No. 71055, Water SCADA
Improvements.
OBJECTIVE: Complete the following Technical Support Sub - projects at the North County Regional
Water Treatment Plant ( NCRWTP), and the South County Regional Water Treatment Plant (SCRWTP)
to support sustainable; and reliable potable water production and distribution to the system.
71055 Water SCADA Improvements
1. NCRWTP Install Remote 1/0 Modules at RO Skids $ 185,324
2. NCRWTP Replace Seimens 1/0 Modules in HSP Room $ 133,834
3. SCRWTP Replace RO- Filtration Skid PLC $ 189,000
4. SCRWTP Rehab Wiring Closet inside Control Room $ 87,000
5. Contingency $ 19,842
Total Budget Amendment Amount $ 615,000
CONSIDERATIONS: On June 24, 2008, as Agenda Item 10G, the Board of County Commissioners
(Board) adopted the :2008 Water Master Plan Update that identified the requirement for maintaining the
Water Treatment Plant SCADA systems. The proposed scope of work is consistent with the 2008 Water
Master Plan Update, Project 71055, "Water SCADA Improvements," Section 8, Table 8 -2, page 3 of 5,
line 107.
These sub - projects are required to maintain the operational integrity and compliance of the water
treatment process at both water plants, and sustain reliability within the potable water distribution system.
These sub - projects were identified in the Master Plan Update for completion in FY2013. Executing these
sub - projects now will reduce risk by eliminating single points of failure in these mission- critical areas.
The total $615,000 requested is based on engineering design and integration consultant cost estimates.
Future procurement activities for each sub - project will occur separately in accordance with the
Purchasing Policy.
Funds are available in Project No. 70087, Vanderbilt Drive Water Main Rehabilitation, due to changes in
project scope. The funds remaining in Project No. 70087 will be adequate to replace the asbestos- cement
pipe on Vanderbilt Drive and the western finger streets south of I I Ith Avenue.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is available in and is consistent with the FY12 Capital Budget approved by
the Board on September 22, 2011. A budget amendment to obtain the required funds is being requested.
The source of these funds is the Water User Fee Fund 412.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: No legal issues are raised by this item which is ready for Board action.
This item requires a majority vote. - JBW
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project meets current Growth Management Plan
standards to ensure the adequacy and availability of viable public facilities.

of the Collier County Water -Sewer District, approve a budget amendment of $615,000 to move funds
from Project No. 70087, Vanderbilt Drive Water Main Rehabilitation, to Project No. 71055 Water
SCADA Improvements.
