EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Marcia Kendall, Senior Planner, Land Development Services, as the
Employee of the Month for May 2012.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the Employee of the Month program is to recognize the efforts
and accomplishments of employees who have made significant contributions to the organization
or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Marcia Kendall, Senior Planner, has been nominated as the "Employee of
the Month" for May 2012. Marcia, an employee of the County for almost 17 years, works in the
Comprehensive Planning Section of the Land Development Services Department.
As a Senior Planner, Marcia's responsibilities cover a wide range of activities. She is the lead
planner on the administration of the Transfer of Development Rights program, the coordinator
for all advertising items for the section, and the project manager for all Community Development
Districts. In addition to these duties, she has also assumed several functions outside of her
regular responsibilities. These include taking the lead in representing the section in the
development of the Cityview database and learning new skills to assist with the department's
webpage management. During the merger to become the Growth Management Division she
was considered by her teammates as the glue that held everything together. She has faced
many challenges during the past two years, but her positive attitude and determination serve as
an inspiration to everyone around her. She always provides exemplary assistance to others
and her commitment to superior customer service is often noted.
Marcia is an asset to her department and a dedicated employee of the County. She is truly
deserving of this award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award.
Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION:: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of
Marcia Kendall as "Employee of the Month" for May 2012.
