PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, Collier County and the state of Florida consider the safety of its residents to be a priority; and, WHEREAS, the intersection of Southwest Blvd. and U.S. 41 East was the site of crashes between motorists and bicyclists /pedestrians resulting in fatalities and severe injuries; and, WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in response to a plea from the Board of County Commissioners, conducted a study to determine if a light was needed and the result was affirmative; and, WHEREAS, Lennar Homes, developer of neighboring Treviso Bay, offered to cover the cost of the design and installation of the light, estimated at $300, 000 to $500, 000; and, WHEREAS, the efforts of Collier County, FDOT and Lennar Homes display the positive outcomes of partnerships in the safety of our community. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that Lennar Homes be recognized for their contributions to the safety of Collier County residents through the installation of a new traffic light on US 41 and Southwest Blvd. DONE AND ORDERED THIS I2th Day of June, 2012.
