Agenda 05/22/2012 Item #16H 1P R O C L A M A T I O N 5,2212012 Item WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice estimates that an average of 2, 200 children are reported missing to law enforcement daily; and, WHEREAS, 58,200 of these children are victims of non - family abductions and more than 200, 000 are victims of family abductions, and WHEREAS, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) exists as a resource to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation, help find missing children and assist victims, families and the professionals who serve them, and, WHEREAS, National Missing Chi /dren's Day, May 25th, is a special time to remember those children who are missing and to provide hope to their families; and, WHEREAS, NCMEC encourages the participation of local government, law enforcement and communities in educating others about child abduction and sexual exploitation and the assistance provided by the aforementioned and urges all individuals to take 25 minutes to help a chi /d. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that May 25, 2012 be designated as NATIONAL MISSING CHILDREN'S DAY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 22ND Day of May 2012.
