EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend fimction/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Jim Coletta
FUNCTION/EVENT: Attended RSVP Annual Volunteer Appreciation luncheon at
Naples Airport, Naples, FL.
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION /EVENT: March 20, 2012
FISCAL IMPACT: $15 — Funds to be paid from Commissioner Coletta's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Jim Coletta to
attend.fanction serving a valid public purpose.

I invite you to join volunteers of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at our annual Volunteer
Appreciation Luncheon Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Naples Airport Terminal, 500 Terminal Road in
Naples. Lunch will be served at noon.
Housing, Human and Veteran Services is proud to sponsor RSVP, whose 450 volunteers contributed
more than 70,000 hours of service to Collier County residents in 2011 through nonprofit organizations
and County agencies. Their service becomes more tangible when we consider that if they were to
charge a moderate hourly rate of $19 per hour, they would be presenting a bill to the County at large for
more than $1.3 million dollars.
More important, their service hours represent much- needed caring contact with Collier residents, many
of whom are the most vulnerable members of our community.
I hope you can join us in celebrating our senior volunteers, who share "the experience of their Lifetime ".
Your response by March 14, 2012 would be much appreciated so that we might make head table
arrangements..
