PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, for 130 years, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has
advanced equity for women and girls through advocacy, education,
philanthropy and research; and
WHEREAS, the AAUW is a nationwide network of more than 100, 000 members and
donors, 1, 000 branches and 600 college and university partners, and,
WHEREAS, the AAUW is a community that breaks through educational and economic
barriers so that all women have a fair chance; and,
WHEREAS, the Greater Naples Chapter of AAUW Charitable Foundation, Inc. honors its
2012 Women of Achievement for their individual personification of the
mission of the AAUW; and,
WHEREAS, the chapter was proud to bestow this honor at a local event sponsored by the
Foundation that awards scholarships to deserving women attending local
colleges; and,
WHEREAS, Pat Carroll, Sharon Hood, Franny gain, Rebecca Newell, Vi Steffan, Cloe
Waterfield, Christine Wheeler and Irene Williams are the 2012 Women in
Achievement.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, to recognize the 2012 Women of Achievement of the
Greater Naples Chapter of the American Association of University Women,
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 24th Day of April 2012.
