EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Jim Coletta
FUNCTION/EVENT: Attended the Boy Scouts of America Southwest Florida Council
Annual Meeting in Ft. Myers, FL.
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: February 7, 2012
FISCAL IMPACT: $10.00 — Funds to be paid from Commissioner Coletta's travel
budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Jim Coletta to
attend function serving a valid public purpose.

RE: 2012 Southwest Florida Council, BSA Annual Business Meeting
Our Annual Business Meeting of the Southwest Florida Council will be Tuesday, February
7, 2012 at 6:30 PM at the Southwest Florida Council Conference Center in Fort Myers,
Florida.
This annual meeting will be most important as we hear about the progress our council has
made during 2011 and conduct our annual business meeting to elect new council officers and
board members for the upcoming year. All nominations for board officers and members
should be submitted in writing to the council office with detailed nomination information to
the attention of Gary Hoyt — Council President no later December 30, 2011. The 2012
Nominating Committee includes Judge Gilbert Smith, Michael Lyster, Pete Doragh and
Judge Josephine Gagliardi.
Thank you for your continued support in helping to provide a quality Scouting program to
youth in our communities.
