EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER(S) TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 2 members to serve 4 year terms, I to expire on January 8, 2015. and
I to expire October 9, 2015 to the Industrial Development Authority.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Industrial Development Authority had 1 term expire on January
8, 2011, and 1 term expire on October 9, 2011. This 5- member authority was established by the
Board of County Commissioners on February 27, 1979 by Resolution No. 79 -34 pursuant to
State Statues 159, Part III. This authority has the power to issue Industrial Development Bonds
to qualifying projects. Money generated from the bonds would be used to construct industrial
plants, equipment and other facilities which would be leased or sold to private industry. The
Authority meets several times a year at irregular intervals. Terms for are 4 years. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
The term for Alice J. Carlson expired January 8, 2011 and the term for Barbara Minch
Rosenberg expired on October 9, 2011. A press release was issued and 2 resumes were received
from the following interested citizens:

There are two vacancies on the Collier County Industrial Development Authority due to
the expiration of the terms of Alice J. Carlson and Barbara M. Rosenberg, who have both applied
for reappointment. Ms. Carlson has served the IDA for many years, and is currently its chairman,
while Ms. Rosenberg has also been a member for many years and is the vice chairman. Both of
these individuals bring many years of experience, knowledge, and conflict -free judgment to the
Authority. Neither has missed more than one meeting of the Authority during their terms. There
were no other applicants for these vacancies. I highly recommend their reappointment.

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County adopted
Resolution No. 79 -34, creating the Collier County Industrial Development Authority
pursuant to the authority of Chapter 159, Part III, Florida Statutes, and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Industrial Development Authority is composed of five
(5) members with four -year terms; and
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy on this board; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners previousy provided public notice
soliciting applications from interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority has provided the Board of County
Commissioners with their recommendation for appointment to the Authority.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Alice J. Carlson is hereby
