EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Marcus Berman, County Surveyor, Growth Management
Department as the April 2018 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Public Transit & Neighborhood Enhancement (PTNE) Division has a
number of bus stop improvements scheduled, for which grants have been obtained. Several stops located
in the Immokalee area had a short time frame for completing the work before the grant expired, and the
PTNE staff needed to quickly obtain surveys of the locations. In addition to his regular workload, Marcus
Berman stepped up to the plate and provided the surveys to get the information needed for the transit
project. Throughout the process, Marcus coordinated with the PTNE staff closely to make sure the details
were exactly what was needed. He is a true professional in every sense. With Marcus doing the surveying
work, it saved the project many thousands of dollars, allowing for the grant funding to go further, and
provide for more improvements in the Immokalee area. The survey work will result in improvements to
24 bus stops, providing the public with safe access to public transit. Marcus’ efforts are an excellent
example of County teams working together for the good of the community and demonstrate that he is
very deserving of the Employee of the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee's budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Marcus Berman as the April 2018 Employee of
the Month.
