COMMISSIONER HILLER REQUESTS BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT
TO ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend ftmction/event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.

I'm writing to invite you to a Cato Institute seminar and luncheon in Naples on Monday, February 6 at
the Ritz - Carlton Beach Resort from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program will feature a luncheon
address by one of America's leading political commentators, Tucker Carlson. Tucker is a regular on
Fox News and co- founder of the political news website The Daily Caller. He will share his views on
the upcoming presidential election. There will also be presentations by Cato's president Ed Crane on
the dangers of not taking political philosophy seriously, and our executive vice president David Boaz
on reclaiming freedom. It will be moderated by Cato's chairman Bob Levy.
