EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Appointment of member to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member to a term expiring on December 31, 2017 to the Parks
and Recreation Advisory Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has two terms expiring on
December 31, 2013. Representation on this board consists of one member from the Immokalee
Community Park District, and six members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park
District. This seven member board advises the Board of County Commissioners on matters
pertaining to the acquisition, development and programs involving the County's park facilities.
Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The expiring terms were advertised and an application was received from the following seven
interested citizen:

board's recommendation for reappointment, reappoints one member, and directs the County
Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointment.

At the regularly scheduled meeting on November 20, 2013 the Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board members interviewed one applicant for one of the two vacancies on the
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and recommended the following individual:
McMurdo Smith
Mr. Smith's application was the only one that was received after advertising the vacancies
for one month. After a brief interview the above applicant was chosen for an additional term
on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
