EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Appointment of member to Collier County Public Safety Authority.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one member to the Collier County Public Safety Authority to serve
the remainder of a term expiring on July 2, 2016.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Ordinance (2012-23) creating the Collier County Public Safety
Authority was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on June 26, 2012 and filed with
the Florida Secretary of State on July 2, 2012. The intent of the Ordinance was to form a
seventeen (17) member Authority to address closer inter-agency collaboration and integration of
the pre-hospital emergency medical services delivery system and thereby assist the Board of
County Commissioners, municipalities, and fire departments, law enforcement agencies,
including the Collier County Sheriff's Office and hospitals, with issues affecting pre-hospital
emergency services within all of Collier County. A list of the current membership is included in
the backup.
Edward Morton resigned from the Public Safety Authority on June 4, 2013. During the last
publicly noticed PSA meeting on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, the PSA voted to appoint
Ronald Myers and submit this recommendation to the Board for confirmation.

W are full time residents on Marco Island. We built a new&final home during 2010 after
visiting Marco for six years. I have been attending the PSA meetings and some BCC meetings.

Spent my adult life in the private ambulance sector. My partner and I owned two companies.
They were in NE Ohio & Houston, Texas. We served our communities with emergency&no�
emergency services. I reported to oversight committees on performance&financial
responsibilities without any issues. I am a past President of the Ohio Ambulance Association &
The American Ambulance Association. Also, served three years on the Governor's EMS Board
in Ohio. We sold our two ambulance companies in 1994 to a public held consolidator. I work as
a Regional CEO for three years and then semi retired and started a medical transportation
consulting business. I still do limited consulting for select clients. My passion&focus centers
around effective EMS systems and overall performance and reliability.
