EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize carryforward from accrued interest earned by EMS County Grant
revenue and appropriate funds for a total amount of$1,161.82.
OBJECTIVE: To appropriate past accrued interest earned through September 30, 2013 for EMS
County Grants awarded by the Florida Department of Health under the Emergency Medical
Services County Grant Programs.
CONSIDERATIONS: Each year EMS is awarded a grant through the Florida Department of
Health, Bureau of EMS. This grant is non-competitive and requires only the completion of the
application and a resolution stating that the grant funds will be used only to expand or improve
EMS services and will not supplant budgeted funds. Further, the State allows for the rollover of
any unexpended funds, including interest, to the next year's grant. Interest in EMS Grant Funds
491 and 493 has accrued to a balance of$1,161.82 through Fiscal Year 2013. Staff is seeking
Board approval to recognize and appropriate this accrued interest in order to expend the funds.
FISCAL IMPACT: Budget amendments are required to recognize a total of$817.30 within EMS
Grant Fund 491, Projects 44306 and 44307 and $344.52 within EMS Grant Fund 493, Projects
33230 and 33285 of accrued interest.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, presents no
legal issues, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT:None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the necessary
Budget Amendments in the amount of $1,161.82 to appropriate carry forward from accrued
interest through FY 13.
