Agenda 12/10/2013 Item # 5B 12/10/2013 5.B. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to recognize Corey Ford, Senior Technical Support Professional, Public Utilities, as the Employee of the Month for November 2013. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the Employee of the Month program is to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of employees who have made significant contributions to the organization and to our community. CONSIDERATIONS: Corey Ford, Senior Technical Support Professional has been nominated as the "Employee of the Month" for November 2013. Corey, an employee of the County for more than 10 years, works for the Planning and Project Management Department, Public Utilities Division. Corey's normal responsibilities include providing technical support to internal PUD operational staff for SCADA and Plant Operations. He provides technical insight and project guidance to PUD project managers. Corey's expertise is not confined to supporting just Public Utilities; he was recently asked to evaluate an issue for The Growth Management Division. Their Gateway Triangle Pump Station had not been working properly and they had to run the station in a manual "staff-on-site" mode. They called on Corey to troubleshoot the system to see if they could get the station back on line. He quickly identified several issues and was able to determine the cause of the shutdown. Corey was able to manipulate the parameters of pump speed and output pressure enabling the system to begin working in an automated fashion. He then provided a specialized training session to the storm water technical staff and overview training for management staff, illustrating his ability to navigate the different communication requirements from highly technical perspective to a managerial perspective. He provided written documentation on his findings and the solutions he developed, as well as provided the staff with external resources for additional support. Corey has become an expert in eight different SCADA systems across the county; from landfill operations to wastewater treatment processes. He is dedicated, engaged and highly accountable, eager to provide guidance and support to any and all who ask. He is the epitome of a team player, working across divisions for the good of the citizens of Collier County and he is very deserving of the Employee of the Month Award. FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this Executive Summary. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of Corey Ford as "Employee of the Month"for November 2013.
