Agenda 12/10/2013 Item # 4A PROCLAMATION 12/10/20134.A. WHEREAS, Douglas Molloy managed the Office of Statewide Prosecution, Fort Lauderdale- Miami-Key West Division and served as Chief Assistant United States Attorney for the Southwest Florida Division of the Middle District of Florida, and recently retired after 33 years as a criminal prosecutor; and, WHEREAS, in his criminal prosecution career, Doug/as Mo/lay vigorously prosecuted every criminal type including serial killers, swindling financiers, fraudulent bankers, law- breaking politicians, corrupt police officers, pill mill operators, drug cartels, and human traffickers; and, WHEREAS, Douglas Molloy prosecuted two of the most notorious human trafficking cases in Collier County history, which received national attention and brought the spot light to the travesty and magnitude of human trafficking and modern-day slave labor in Florida; and, WHEREAS, at the request of the United States Department of Justice, Douglas Molloy educated law enforcement officials in other nations on how to thoroughly investigate and successfully prosecute cases involving organized crime, public corruption, money laundering, and slavery; and, HEREAS, Douglas Molloy has been staunchly committed to justice and safety in our community and has earned a reputation for being a champion of the people, especially those most vulnerable including senior citizens, retirees, migrant workers, and victims of slave labor and human trafficking; and, WHEREAS, we are grateful for his dedication and commitment to a legacy of integrity that will endure long after his retirement. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that December 10, 2013 be designated as DOUGLAS MOLLOY DAY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 10 ' Day of December, 2013.
